Q. What is MyECC Portal?

A. MyECC Portal is your single point of access to information, services, communication alerts, and other resources from Essex County College. Via the portal, you can easily access the following information:

  • Your E-mail
  • Your Class Schedule
  • Your Grades
  • Web Services-Registration, financial aid, tuition payment
  • Campus News
  • Student Announcements
  • Emergency Announcements
  • ECC Library Catalog

Q. What do I need to access the portal?

A. You will need your assigned User Name and Password. Your Password is your WebServices PIN.

Q. How do I log into the portal?

A. To log into the MyECC portal:

  1. Go to http://myecc.essex.edu
  2. Enter your assigned User Name into the User Name field.
  3. Enter your Web Services PIN into the Password field.
  4. Click the Login button.

Q. What is my User Name?

A. To find your assigned User Name:

  1. Go to http://myecc.essex.edu page.
  2. Click on the What is my User Name and Email Address? link under the Quick Help list toward the bottom of the page.
  3. Enter your Student ID in the ID Number field.
  4. Enter your last name in the Last Name field.
  5. Enter your birth date in the Birth date field.
  6. Click on the Submit button.
  7. Your User Name, as well as email address, will be displayed.

You can also find out your User Name from WebServices:

  1. Go to http://webservices.essex.edu
  2. Click on Enter Secure Area.
  3. Enter your Student ID in the ID Number field.
  4. Enter your Webservices PIN in the PIN field.
  5. Click on the Login button.
  6. Click on Personal Information.
  7. Click on View E-mail Adress(es).
  8. Your User Name is the first part of your e-mail address before the '@' symbol.

Q. How can I find out my assigned User Name?

A. To find your assigned User Name:

  1. Go to http://myecc.essex.edu page
  2. Click on the What is my User Name and Email Address? link under the Quick Help list toward the bottom of the page.
  3. Enter your Student ID in the ID Number field.
  4. Enter your last name in the Last Name field.
  5. Enter your birth date in the Birth date field.
  6. Click on the Submit button.
  7. Your User Name, as well as email address, will be displayed.

You can also find out your User Name from WebServices:

  1. Go to http://webservices.essex.edu
  2. Click on Enter Secure Area.

Q. What is my Password?

A. You Password for the MyECC Portal is your WebServices PIN.

Q. I forgot my Password for the MyECC Portal. What do I do?

A. Your Password is your WebServices PIN.

If you have forgotten your WebServices PIN, then you can reset your PIN so long as you previously set up a Security Question.

  1. Go to http://webservices.essex.edu
  2. Click the Enter Secure Area link.
  3. Enter your User ID in the User ID field.
  4. Click on the Forgot PIN? button. You will be prompted the security question you created.
  5. Enter your answer to the security question in the Answer field.
  6. Click the Submit Answer button. If you answered correctly, then you will be able to reset your PIN.
    However, if you have not set up a Security Question on WebServices, then you must report to the Enrollment Services Department to have your WebServices PIN reset.

Q. I have never logged in to WebServices. Can I log into the Portal and access WebServices?

A. Yes. Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to http://myecc.essex.edu and enter your User Name and Password.
  2. Click on the WebServices tab in the portal. Immediately, you will be prompted to change your PIN.
  3. Enter the default PIN in the Enter Old PIN field.
  4. Enter a new PIN (six digits of your choice – other than your birth date) in the Enter New PIN field.
  5. Enter the new PIN again in the Re-enter New PIN field.
    (Important: This will be the PIN you will use to access the portal and WebServices. Please keep your WebServices PIN in a secure place and do not share it with anyone else).
    Make sure to set up a Security Question and Answer in case you forget your WebService PIN/Portal Password. This should be a simple question and answer that you can easily remember. When you forget your PIN, you will be able to reset your PIN to the default PIN (your birth date – mmddyy) and start the process of resetting your PIN as indicated above.

Q. My portal account is locked. Where can I go for help?

A. Your portal account will be locked after several unsuccessful attempts to login. You should report to the Enrollment Services Department to have your WebServices PIN reset.

Q. My WebServices PIN has been reset. How do I login to the Portal?

A. When your Web services PIN is reset, your default PIN is your birth date – mmddyy (e.g. if your birth date is October 26, 1986, then your default PIN would be 102686). You must change the default password once you log into the MyECC Portal.

  1. Go to http://myecc.essex.edu and enter your User Name and Password.
  2. Click on the WebServices tab in the portal. Immediately, you will be prompted to change your PIN.
  3. Enter the default PIN in the Enter Old PIN field.
  4. Enter a new PIN (six digits of your choice – other than your birth date.) in the Enter New PIN field.
  5. Enter the new PIN again in the Re-enter New PIN field.
    (Important: This will be the PIN you will use to access the portal and WebServices. Please keep your WebServices PIN in a secure place and do not share it with anyone else).

A. Your WebServices PIN becomes disabled after several unsuccessful attempts to login. You should report to the Enrollment Services Department to have your WebServices PIN reset.

Q. Can I register for classes through the portal?

A. Yes. Log into the portal and click on the WebServices tab. From this tab, you click on the Student & Financial Aid link and then on the Registration link.

Q. What is my student e-mail address?

A. To find out your email address:

  1. Go to http://myecc.essex.edu page.
  2. Click on the What is my User Name and Email Address? link under the Quick Help list toward the bottom of the page.
  3. Enter your Student ID in the ID Number field.
  4. Enter your last name in the Last Name field.
  5. Enter your birth date in the Birth date field.

Q. Can I forward my student email to another email account?

A. Yes. Follow these steps -

  1. Click Student Email button. The main email window will appear.
  2. Click the Preferences link at top right of the screen. Another window will open.
  3. Click the Mail icon (letter with red stamp). A new vertical options menu will appear.
  4. Click Rules from the vertical options menu. Another window will open.
  5. Click New button. Another window will open.
  6. Create a New Rule to forward all student emails to another email address by doing the following -
    1. Type Forward in Name field
    2. Select the Yes radio button next to Active
    3. Select When messages are delivered from the Event drop down menu
    4. Under Conditions, select the All radio button
    5. Under Actions,
      1.  Select Send a blind copy (Bcc) to from drop down menu
      2. Type your other email address
    6.  Click OK.
